Tropical Beaches. Sand. Sun.
Rabbit Island (in the Khmer language "Koh Tonsay") is a small, 2 square kilometer island about 5km from the coast of Kep, Cambodia.
Nice white sand beaches, good snorkeling and a great place to relax. Lots of reports of trash on the island and beach however.
$8+ for a 1/2 hour round trip to the island from the Kep Pier, about 10 minutes from the Crab Market. ($25 for the whole boat which can hold 10 people). The speedboat is $15, leaving at 8:30am and 11am from the pier. Retuning at 9am and 5pm. Takes about 5 minutes. You can do a day trip, or stay overnight.
To find the pier, locate the biggest island off the beach, and ride towards it. The pier is right in front of the island. This pier was remade in 2022. Soon, trips to Vietnam and SihanoukVille's islands (maybe?)
There's a half dozen beachside bungalows on the island from $5 to $15. These are all fan bungalows with "natural" bathrooms. No TV or hot water here, but you can get phone service. Electricity is from generators at the bungalows and restaurants.
It's a 3 hour walk to go around the island. You'll be on beaches, mangrove forests and rocks.
Development has started on the island, so now's the time to go.
